Reasons Your Child's Permanent Teeth Aren't Coming In / Penyebab Gigi Tetap Anak Anda Tidak Tumbuh

Lack Of Sufficient Space

This is perhaps the most common reason why your children’s teeth have not erupted yet. When the milk tooth that was taken out is smaller than the one that is emerging, there will be a problem. It happens regularly because the permanent tooth at the front is usually bigger than the primary one and, therefore, lacks the space to develop properly and on time. Typically, there should be spaces between the primary teeth.

The Permanent Going In The Wrong Direction

Another common issue that causes late permanent teeth development is if they are facing the wrong way. When there is space, but the teeth do not follow the path of the primary tooth and erupt in the proper spot, there will be an issue. This commonly happens with upper canines and bicuspids because they mostly veer away from the intended course, which leads to issues in development. In such cases, there may be the need to surgically remove the primary teeth around that area to allow them to position themselves appropriately. You will, in most cases, have to use braces to get the teeth in the right place.

Gender

Like with the general development of the body, there are huge variations in the speed of tooth growth between girls and boys. Girls tend to experience puberty and sexual changes earlier than boys. In the same way, girls tend to develop their permanent teeth slightly earlier than boys do. Studies show that girls begin losing their teeth up to 6 months earlier than boys. As a parent, it is normal to want to compare your children since that is human.

Genetics

Did your teeth come in late? Do you know that there is an 80% chance that the characteristics of your teeth development will be seen in your children? Well, now you know. If your teeth took time to grow or you ended up needing braces for there to be enough space for the new set of teeth to fit in, the same will happen with your children. It is, therefore, the time to talk to your parents and your spouse. Find out whether the delay is as a result of genetics or something that needs a doctor’s attention.

Nutrition

The nutritional status of your child can affect the development of their teeth. To develop correctly, teeth require a lot of calcium, in addition to other minerals so that they are strong enough to push through the gum. If your child is a picky eater, you have to ensure that they learn the importance of eating a balanced diet early in life. Parents whose children do not stick to a healthy diet, rather preferring a sugar-rich diet tend to develop their teeth later than their peers in the same age group or class.

Weight And Height

Studies on childhood obesity have revealed that overweight children tend to develop their permanent teeth faster than kids who are of normal weight. It is also true that taller children get their teeth earlier than their shorter counterparts. Therefore, if your child is short and relatively thin, their teeth will take time to develop. This is nothing you need to worry about because they will come in eventually and will truly be worth the wait.

Impacted Teeth

These are teeth in your children’s mouths that are blocked from erupting due to premature loss of the primary teeth or narrow jaws. When the teeth lack the space to erupt, they will usually stay in. Primary teeth usually develop fully but do not erupt because they are blocked. In such cases, a radiograph is needed to check whether the position of the teeth is correct. Handling this early enough, there is no damage to the surrounding tissues and other teeth.

Supernumerary Teeth

These are extra teeth that can form anywhere on the arch of your mouth. Because they erupt on the space meant for permanent teeth, they may delay or displace them. This may cause dental problems and irregularities.

Braces Materials

Today's "braces" are made of many different materials.

Metal brackets are typically made of stainless steel.

Clear braces are made of either porcelain, sapphire or plastic.

Aligners Invisalign are made out of multlilayer aromatic thermoplastic polyurethane / copolyester.

Modern wires are made from stainless steel, nickel titanium, molybdinum, copper, and traces of many other rare metals.

The o-rings and chains used to tie it all together are made of rubber, latex, or vinyl.

If you have allergies to any of these materials, be sure and mention it to your orthodontist at your first visit.

What Are the Different Parts of a Tooth?

Crown — the top part of the tooth, and the only part you can normally see. The shape of the crown determines the tooth's function.

Root — the part of the tooth that is embedded in bone. The root makes up about two-thirds of the tooth and holds the tooth in place.

Enamel — the outermost layer of the tooth. Enamel is the hardest, most mineralized tissue in the body — yet it can be damaged by decay if teeth are not cared for properly.

Dentin — the layer of the tooth under the enamel. If decay is able to progress its way through the enamel, it next attacks the dentin — where millions of tiny tubes lead directly to the dental pulp.

Pulp — the soft tissue found in the center of all teeth, where the nerve tissue and blood vessels are. If tooth decay reaches the pulp, you usually feel pain.

Gums - the gum or gingiva is the pink tissue that surrounds the teeth and bone forming a protective barrier at the neck of the tooth. When gums become inflamed the condition is called gingivitis and if the inflammation continues to include the bone, the condition is called periodontitis.

Alveolar Bone - the jawbone that immediately surrounds the teeth is called the alveolar bone. In periodontitis this bone can slowly resorb due to the inflammatory process.

Periodontal Ligament - in between the alveolar bone and the teeth are connective tissue fibres that form the periodontal ligament, that anchor the teeth into place.

Why Root Canal Treatment?

Endodontic treatment helps you maintain your natural smile, continue eating the foods you love and limits the need for ongoing dental work.

What causes a root canal?
- Decay is the main reason. If a cavity becomes large enough, bacteria can enter your pulp chamber or nerve. It causes pain, and sometimes, an infection.
- Trauma to your tooth can also expose your pulp chamber, damage your nerve and cause pain.

How do you know if you need a root canal?
- Severe toothache pain from chewing.
- Your tooth hurts longer than it should after exposure to hot or cold temperatures.
- Darkening or discoloration of the tooth.
- Swollen and tender gums surrounding a tooth, or a "rotten" taste in your mouth.
- Dental abscess.

Benefits of Smiling

It will benefit your health
Smiling activates the release of neuropeptides that work toward fighting off stress. The feel-good neurotransmitters — dopamine, endorphins and serotonin — are all released when a smile flashes across your face as well. This not only relaxes your body, but it can also lower your heart rate and blood pressure. Finally, the serotonin release brought on by your smile serves as an anti-depressant/mood lifter. Many of today’s pharmaceutical anti-depressants also influence the levels of serotonin in your brain, but with a smile, you again don’t have to worry about negative side effects — and you don’t need a prescription from your doctor.

It will improve your perception at work
Smiling is like taking a breath, a break that allows your brain to perceive a situation from another vantage point. Smiling can help you to feel more positive and respond better to challenging situations.

It will enhance your social and romantic life
Smiling sends signals that you are enjoying yourself and the other person. A smile is a sign of contentment, positivity and happiness; all of which the majority of people are more attracted to. So you’re more likely to attract people to you if you have a smile on your face.

Why You Must Change a Toothbrush?

Here are some reasons why you should change your toothbrush:

After around three months of usage, the toothbrush comes to the end of its life and gets to a point where it is no longer as effective for cleaning around the tooth surfaces and this also includes brush heads on electric toothbrushes.

Research shows that a new toothbrush can remove more plaque than one that is worn out.

As the bristles become worn they become more prone to bacterial or fungal growth.

Using a toothbrush more than three months might give you dental problems, halitosis or bad breath.
Worn out bristles can cause gum bleeding.

It is also advised to change your toothbrush after you had an infection such as flu, cold, mouth sores or a sore throat. If you get sick make sure that change your brush even if it’s not 3 months old yet, as bacteria can breed on those bristles

How to Choose a Toothbrush

1. Make sure your toothbrush works for the shape of your mouth. Some mouths are more
narrow or wide than others, and you need a toothbrush that works for your mouth and teeth

2. Keep the size of your mouth in mind. Mouths vary in size. If you have an average-sized
mouth, most conventional toothbrushes will probably work for you

3. Look at the angle of the toothbrush. Some toothbrushes are designed to be held at a
particular angle. The ideal toothbrush is always one you can easily use

4. Select a handle you like. Go for a toothbrush with a soft handle that's easy to hold

5. For the vast majority of people, a soft-bristled toothbrush will be the most comfortable and
safest choice. Depending on how vigorously you brush your teeth and the strength of your teeth, medium- and hard-bristled brushes could actually damage the gums, root surface, and protective tooth enamel

Your SMILE Is Your LOGO

1.Smiling creates connection
A smile begins inside. I am not a naturally smiley-happy person and some days I struggle to be positive. I have to work at smiling and yes, some days I fake it. When you smile at another person it is an invitation. You respect them enough to look them in the eye and that might just make the difference for them and for you

2.Smiling creates something new
When you smile, you communicate to your partner that they are important to you. We are in a technologically driven, isolated culture. Whether or not you see technology as a good thing, there seems to be less engagement, less eye contact with each other these days. If you don’t look your partner in the eye, how can you expect to improve your intimacy? I promise you, your iPhone won’t help you improve your relationship. But looking your partner in the eye and smiling might just let them see something in you. When you see another person, you become more receptive. Often, smiling is the first step

3.Smiling allows you to be seen
Whether it’s real or faked, a smile allows you to be seen for just a moment. When you smile, your eyes express a little of your inner light. There is something powerful when you genuinely smile at your partner. It is a moment of vulnerability in a culture of self-protection. “When someone has a big smile, it shows they’re willing to open up and expose a part of themselves,Pamela McClain, DDS, a past president of the American Academy of Periodontology

4.Smiling for no reason communicates much more than expensive gifts
Culture says that it is okay to smile hen you spend money, when you drink alcohol, when you are on an expensive trip or on a Friday afternoon. But smiling to your partner on a Tuesday morning? What’s that about? Smiling for no reason is an open door. You drop your guard and invite your partner to join you. Your partner may be having a stressful week and smiling with nothing on your mind except her best interests can be exactly what she needs

5.Smiling is like a body-language contract
When you smile, your partner’s mirror neurons create an impulse to smile back in return. Adrian Furnhan in a Psychology Today article on the psychology of smiling calls this a virtuous cycle. When you smile, you create an atmosphere of hope in your relationship. Smiling reinforces a belief that better things can happen. A smile literally is an invitation your partner and other people in your life

6.Smiling builds confidence
A genuine smile comes from a sense of confidence. Don’t lie, no one feels confident every day. But when you smile genuinely, you are broadcasting confidence. Get real, you might not be any richer, you may not have better career opportunities and your kids may argue about the same old stuff. But when you look your spouse or a potential partner and smile you communicate that you have somewhere to go. Smiling will also have benefits to your career, according to Lily T. Garcia, DDS, past president of the American College of Prosthodontists
